Those looking for love this fall might do well to brush up their ball-handling skills: a new survey has revealed that singles go wild for fans of rugby!
– 58 per cent of singles want to date a rugby union fan
– 80 per cent of women, 78 per cent of men find rugby fans interesting or sexy
– Seamus Kelly has been voted the sexiest member of the American team
The survey, based on anonymous user data, asked 2400 men and women what they think about dating, love – and rugby.
The results revealed that rugby is an intriguing game. Indeed, 58 per cent of singles revealed that they would most like to date ‘’someone who is really passionate about rugby.’’ In comparison, 31 per cent of singles surveyed said they’d like to date someone who is into other sports than rugby (sorry, hockey fans) and just 12 per cent admitted to preferring those who hate all sport. Rugby, it seems, is the truly beautiful game.
Moreover, this desire to date a rugby fan was something shared by men and women alike. In fact, women even seemed slightly more enthusiastic than the men, with 80 per cent of women surveyed indicating that they find rugby fans interesting or sexy (as opposed to the 78 per cent of men who thought the same).
So how can singles make the most of this sudden onset of RWC fever? Well, the best way to impress a rugby fan – according to the survey – is to know the rules. In fact, 41 per cent of singles would find themselves swooning over someone who could explain the finer points of an uncontested scrum or call a yellow card before the ref has raised his whistle.
Another way is to simply be Seamus Kelly. Indeed, while the trophy itself may not be in reach, Kelly can be happy in the knowledge that he’s already won one major victory – the survey saw American singles voting him the sexiest member of America’s World Cup Squad.
